Fall Launch FAQ's

Aloha High School Lauch - Sunday, October 2nd @ 10:00 am

Q: What’s happening at Westside this Fall?
A:Starting, Sunday October 2nd we are launching a 2nd location at Aloha High School. We’re expanding our Sunday seating opportunities by moving our 10am service to Aloha High auditorium, which will give us room to continue helping people find & follow Jesus! (Neh. 6:15)

Q: Why Aloha High School?
A:(1) Because it’s so close! (2) Because it is the largest auditorium in the Beaverton School District (over 800 seats). (3) We love our local schools and we’re looking for ways to partner with and bless them. (4) Expanding our existing buildings is too expensive and too slow. (5) Because we can’t beat the price. (6) Because they said yes!

Q: Why are we doing this, if their’s space in our Farmington Campus auditorium now?
A:When you look around at our seating, parking, and kids’ space during the summer you may see some extra space – that’s because summertime is a great time for vacation, so our attendance numbers are always lower in the summer. But with Fall comes higher attendance and new growth. And at our current rate of growth we will be turning people away at the street this Fall if we don’t fix our space problems. As an example, last Sunday’s attendance (7/24/11) was up 33% over the same Sunday last year.

Q: How much will the Fall launch at AHS cost our church?
A:Our fall launch budget is $135,000.

Q: What does the budget include?
A:Because we’re running a full-scale Sunday service at Aloha High, we’ll need everything we use at our Farmington Campus, only portable. The list includes cribs, rugs, chairs, tables, toys, directional signage, coffee supplies, partitions, speakers & amps, musical instruments, microphones, video projectors, portable sound systems, check-in computers, crayons, toys, Bibles, pens, and a lot more. Because the space is so much larger than our Farmington Campus, we need enough to accommodate at least 6-800 attenders to begin with.

Q: What will the new service times be?
A:Starting October 2nd we will have services at 9, 10 & 11:00 am every Sunday. Our 9 & 11 am services will stay at the Farmington Campus and our 10 am service will be at AHS.

Q: Will there be any difference between AHS & Farmington’s Services?
A:The services will be the same, same message, same music, same kids’ programming. Since the AHS campus is so close, the message and the music will be done by the same team in all 3 services. The student programs will remain at the Farmington campus where they have a great facility and they will be switching their meeting time from 10 am to 11 am.

Q: Why are the service times so close together?
A:Our goal is to provide maximum seats at optimal times for people who don’t attend church yet. Sunday morning statistically continues to be the best time to reach our unchurched friends and neighbors, so we’ve worked hard to get all 3 service times to be an “easy invite” for you. Not too early, not too late.  Also, we are so appreciative of our Westside Volunteers and want to respect their time, so these service times are more convenient for people to be able to sit in one service and serve in another.

Q: Will we have enough volunteers for AHS?
A:Yes.Rock Star Volunteers are already stepping up to the plate – thank God! On Sunday, July 24th we already had 111 people say YES to serving as part of our Fall launch. If you’ve not yet had an opportunity to join in, just go to www.westsidecommunitychurch.com/volunteer to sign-up.

Q: Will the volunteers be able to sit & serve at Aloha High School?
A: Most teams will serve at the introduction of the service and then sit through the rest of the music & message. The Kids’ Team at Aloha High will work toward doubling up so that team members can rotate serving with attending on Sundays.

Q: Will this affect CR or our other Community Outreach programs?
A:Our Celebrate Recovery program, Food Brigade and Giving Garden will continue to operate from our Farmington Campus. Because we own the space we have a lot more flexibility, plus we can host non-Sunday functions as often as we like.

Q: How can I be involved in our fall expansion plans?
A:(1) Be a committed member of Westside (The next Membership class is August 21, 2011). (2) Pray daily for the launch, our staff and leaders and for our friends & neighbors to be receptive to our new church service at Aloha High. (3) We are committed to purchasing our Aloha High items as the funds are available, so give generously to EPIC so we can have a successful launch. (4) Get involved in serving at any of our Sunday services. We need Rockstar Volunteers at our Farmington Campus and our Aloha High Campus, so jump in and get going.
