BENEATH THE SURFACE

STRONG ROOTS, STEADY FAITH

Firm Foundation - Part 6 | July 11-12, 2026

Stephen Radie

1. Strong Roots Begin with Daily... DELIGHT

1 Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers. 2 But they delight in the law of the LORD, meditating on it day and night. 3 They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.
-Psalm 1:1-3

2. Strong Roots Grow Through Daily... DOING

22 But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.
-James 1:22-25

3. Strong Roots Grow Through Daily... DEPENDENCE

7 Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, turning either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do. 8 Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. 9 This is my command-be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.
-Joshua 1:7-9

4. Strong Roots Produce Daily... STABILITY

16 Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts. 17 And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.
-Colossians 3:16-17

Strong roots in God's Word create a steady life in every season.

FOR DISCUSSION:

Read James 1:19-27 out loud. Then retell the passage in your own words. Then discuss the following questions:

  • What does this passage teach us about God?

  • What does this passage teach us about people?

  • If this is true, what should I do in response?

  • Who could I share this with?
