Good Neighbor project
Good Neighbor Project: Join us in showing Christ’s love to our community
Each summer Westside Community Church partners with neighbors, local organizations, and volunteers to meet practical needs and build lasting relationships through the Good Neighbor Project. We repair, clean, and refresh homes and yards for seniors, single parents, veterans, and anyone in our community who needs a helping hand — no cost to the recipient.
What we do
Home repairs: small carpentry, door and window fixes, minor plumbing and electrical work, weatherproofing, and safety upgrades.
Yard care: mowing, trimming, debris removal, gutter cleaning, and basic landscaping.
Deep cleaning: heavy-duty interior cleaning, decluttering support, and organizing.
Accessibility improvements: handrails, ramps, grab bars, and lighting for safer entry and mobility.
Connection and prayer: volunteers spend time listening, sharing a meal, and offering prayer when welcomed.
Who benefits
Seniors and older adults living independently
Single parents and low-income households
Veterans and those recovering from illness or injury
Neighbors experiencing temporary hardship
How you can help
Volunteer: Skilled trades, general labor, hospitality (providing lunch or snacks), drivers, and prayer team members are all needed. No prior experience required for many roles — we train on site and pair volunteers with experienced leaders.
Donate: Funds help purchase tools, supplies, safety equipment, and materials for accessibility projects.
Nominate a neighbor: If you know someone who could use help, submit a nomination. We assess needs and coordinate with recipients and volunteers.
When and where
The project runs through the summer months with specific build days and neighborhood teams. We work primarily within our local community and coordinate logistics to match volunteers with nearby projects.
Why it matters The Good Neighbor Project puts faith into action. Beyond repairs and yard work, it creates meaningful relationships, brings dignity and safety to vulnerable homes, and demonstrates the compassion of Westside Community Church. Every task is an opportunity to meet a practical need and reflect God’s love in tangible ways.
Sign up or nominate Spaces and materials are limited each season. Visit Westside Community Church or contact the church office to sign up as a volunteer, make a gift to support the project, or nominate someone to receive help.

Undeck The Halls
Sunday, January 4th after services, at 1:15pm. Join us to get everything spick and span again after the winter season!
After the joyful Christmas season, our campus needs to transition back to normal and all the Christmas decorations will come down. Undeck The Halls is the opposite of “Deck the Halls”: it’s our community effort to carefully take down decorations, pack seasonal items away, and restore spaces to there regular look.
What we’ll do
Remove and pack Christmas trees, wreaths, garlands, and ornaments
Take down outdoor lights and seasonal items
Clean, dust, and vacuum areas where decorations were placed
Label and store decorations and supplies for next year
Inspect and report any damaged items or needed repairs
Who should come
Volunteers of all ages and skill levels welcome
Families, youth, seniors, and small groups — tasks can be tailored by ability
If you’d like to bring gloves or basic hand tools (box cutters, pliers), feel free, but we’ll provide most supplies
If you set everything up for Deck The Halls, we’d love to have you here as you saw it all go up and will be even more effective at taking it all back down.
Join us for Undeck The Halls! A community way to close out the Christmas season and prepare our spaces for the next season.
